Liverpool’s centre-back shortlist appears to have been whittled down once more.

Daily Mirror journalist David Anderson reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Marc Guehi is the latest name from the Euros to be ruled out as a potential summer signing.

This follows on from an apparent lack of interest in competing with Arsenal for standout Italy star Riccardo Calafiori.

The Crystal Palace star was ever-present in England’s run to the final, with the Three Lions suffering a 2-1 defeat to winners Spain at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.

Just how good is Marc Guehi?

Credit where credit is due, Guehi seriously impressed with his performances in the backline throughout the tournament.

Pundit and former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand spoke in glowing terms about the 24-year-old ahead of England’s clash with Spain.

“I think Marc Guehi has been the most consistent performer from start to finish. He has been ridiculous and again, first tournament for him as well. He has been great,” the ex-England international spoke on The Rest is Football podcast.

A statistical profile, as is on offer with FBref, is perhaps not the best reflection of his true ability given the nature of his current club outfit. Though, Oliver Glasner does appear to be inspiring a positive change in culture at the South London-based club.

When does Guehi’s contract expire?

The Eagles star’s current terms are set to expire in the summer of 2026. The centre-back has been at Selhurst Park since 2021.
