Manchester United’s financial situation dictates player sales are needed for INEOS to sufficiently back Ruben Amorim once the summer transfer window opens.

Marcus Rashford has no future at the club while Jadon Sancho and Antony are also expected to depart. But more high-profile stars could be on their way.

As relayed by The Peoples Person today, Kobbie Mainoo’s time at Old Trafford is reportedly set to come to an end in the summer as contract talks drag on.

Considered an untouchable not too long ago, the midfielder, who is currently injured, is yet to nail down a spot in the Portuguese tactician’s set-up and his sale does count as pure profit.

Mainoo set to leave

Despite interest from within the Premier League, the 19-year-old does not intend to stay in the English top-flight and is eyeing a move abroad.

And Givemesport have revealed that fellow Carrington graduate Alejandro Garnacho could join him with the management “willing to sell” him despite his recent impressive performances.

Granted his finishing has let the team down, but the Argentine is one of the most potent attacking weapons at the head coach’s disposal and he is a firm fan favourite.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe had made it clear he does not plan on selling the club’s brightest talents, but as the report details further, should any team offer the 20-time English league champions £70 million, the 20-year-old could be set to depart.

Interestingly, the GMS report also states that Garnacho’s increased minutes is not due to the young ace impressing the coach but rather a product of circumstance with Rashford and Antony departing in January.

Garnacho will join him?

“Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim and influential figures at Old Trafford are prepared to sanction the departure of Alejandro Garnacho as long as their demands are met when the transfer window reopens for business in the summer, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

“The Red Devils highlighted that they were not prepared to offload the wide forward for a cut-price fee when they slapped a £70 million price tag on him.

“Garnacho’s upturn in opportunities before the break from domestic action was a reflection of the circumstances Manchester United found themselves in after allowing Rashford and Antony to depart on loan midway through the season, GMS sources have learned, rather than him making himself a key component of future plans.”

There were murmurs of a swap deal with Napoli which would see Victor Osimhen head to Old Trafford instead but that has been ruled out for now.

Amorim had fought with INEOS to keep the United No 17 in Manchester in January after both repaired their fractious relationship following the youngster mending his ways.

Whether former admirers Chelsea, or any other club come in for him remains to be seen. It would certainly be a huge blow.
