Not ‘untouchable’ – Barcelona willing to listen to good offers for defensive heavyweight | OneFootball

Earlier this month, reports emerged stating that FC Barcelona would be open to the summer sale of key left-back Alejandro Balde should good offers come along.

While the young La Masia graduate has been a regular in the team, the club are not ruling out a departure before next season.

Jules Kounde also in a similar position

Now, according to journalist Matteo Moretto on Radio MARCA, Barcelona would be willing to listen to offers for Balde’s fellow defender Jules Kounde as well.

Indeed, the French international is not considered ‘untouchable’ by the Blaugrana even though he recently signed a new contract with the club until 2030.

As such, should there be any good offers that come along for the former Sevilla star, Barcelona will not close the doors on them and will study them before a decision is made.

This comes as a major shock considering that Kounde has been one of the most highly-utilised players under Hansi Flick.

So far this season, the 27-year-old right-back, currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, has made 40 appearances in all competitions, even chipping in with three goals and four assists.

There have been some issues with his defensive performances at times, but he has overall been a very reliable player for Barcelona.

So, it does come off as a bit strange that the club would be willing to listen to offers for Kounde, especially with there not being enough depth in the right-back position.

After all, Joao Cancelo is only on loan until the end of the season, while Xavi Espart is only 18 years old and has only broken into the first-team setup recently.

Eric Garcia has performed well in the role, but his primary position remains at centre-back.

So, it remains to be seen how Barcelona deal with the situation if any appealing offer comes along for Kounde.
