Mallinson is very much Nottingham Forest through and through. He has spent the best part of two decades working within the club’s coaching system. Mallison has worked as an academy coach, as an assistant coach with the B Team and he most-recently took charge of the men’s Under-18 side.

Mallinson will be tasked with continuing Nottingham Forest’s climb up the footballing pyramid with promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League being the ultimate aim.

After being appointed Nottingham Forest head coach, Mallinson said “I can’t wait to get started. I have a big connection to this football club having been here nearly 20 years and although I have thoroughly enjoyed my work at the Academy, this is an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

“The team has continued to grow year-on-year and the ambition to keep improving and establish ourselves as a top team in women’s football is something I wanted to be part of. I’m excited to get to work with the players and staff to build on the great foundations that have got us to this point.

“I’m grateful to have been trusted to take the team forward and eager to get to work.”

Nottingham Forest ended the 2025/2026 campaign in seventh position in the Barclays WSL2 table.
