Nottingham Forest have been dealt a significant setback with the news that Ola Aina will be out for three months after suffering a hamstring injury on international duty. The right-back limped off during Nigeria’s 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw with South Africa, and scans have confirmed the extent of the damage.
Forest have confirmed that Aina will be removed from their Premier League squad list but can be re-registered after the winter transfer window.

Head coach Ange Postecoglou had hinted earlier in the week that the 28-year-old was being assessed. He will now have to plan without Aina until the new year.
Striker Taiwo Awoniyi is expected to be added to Forest’s Premier League squad as a result. Postecoglou’s first game in charge comes at Arsenal on Saturday, a match he is relishing. “It’s a great game – Mikel [Arteta] has got them off to a good start,” he said. “I think they’ve strengthened over the summer for sure. They’re a stronger team than they were last year so they’ll be a great challenge for us.”

Forest now face the challenge of covering for Aina’s absence in a key part of their defensive set-up.
