A Nottingham Forest supporter, believed to be 84, died in Porto after the Europa League quarter-final against FC Porto.
According to Nottingham Post, the British national was pronounced dead in Praca General Humberto Delgado shortly after midnight despite attempts to resuscitate him.
It is understood he died of natural causes, with no suggestion of suspicious circumstances.
Porto Volunteer Firefighters took the deceased to the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences in Porto for a post-mortem, and authorities will notify British consular services.
On the pitch, Forest drew 1-1 at Estadio do Dragao, both goals in the first half, with the home side gifting the equaliser.
Vitor Pereira rotated nine players ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture at Aston Villa, and said 1-1 was a good result and the tie remains open for the City Ground return. He added Porto are strong at home and that he is balancing both competitions while praising his players’ effort.
