Gunners out to maintain lead at Premier League summit

Arsenal have the chance to extend their lead atop the Premier League as they visit Nottingham Forest this weekend.

The Gunners lead Manchester City and Aston Villa by six points, and could stretch that cushion to nine points if other results fall in their favour.

Arsenal, facing their third consecutive away game across three different competitions, should be full of confidence following cup wins over Portsmouth and Chelsea.

The mood at Forest, meanwhile, remains grim. They have slipped to 17th in the table - seven points clear of the relegation zone - and have just one win in their last six.

Their season arguably hit a nadir last weekend as they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Wrexham after a penalty shootout at the Racecourse Ground, and Sean Dyche has been left facing the tough task of ending the season on a positive note.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal is scheduled for a 5.30pm GMT kick-off on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

The match will take place at the City Ground in Nottingham.

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal team news

Arsenal fans were left sweating ahead of their meeting with Chelsea after Mikel Arteta revealed both William Saliba and Leandro Trossard were doubts for the match.

However, both started at Stamford Bridge with the former playing the whole 90 minutes.

Despite Saliba’s return, the Gunners could be without three defenders for the trip to Nottingham, with Piero Hincapie, Riccardo Calafiori, and Cristhian Mosquera all on the physio’s table.

The only other injury in the side is to young starlet Max Dowman, who Arteta has said is “still a few weeks away.” from returning to play.

Forest, meanwhile, may be able to call on Ivorian duo Ibrahim Sangare and Willy Boly after the Elephants were knocked out of AFCON by Mohamed Salah’s Egypt last week.

Elsewhere, John Victor is expected to miss out with a knee injury, while Chris Wood is due to be absent through late February with a knee injury of his own.

Ryan Yates may be involved, though, after recovering from a thigh injury and returning to first-team training.

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal prediction

There is very little to suggest that Arsenal’s six-match unbeaten run in the Premier League will not become seven as they visit the City Ground.

Forest have endured a hugely challenging campaign, and results have not greatly improved under Sean Dyche, their third manager of the campaign.

They have just one win in six and were on the receiving end of an ignominious FA Cup upset at the hands of Wrexham last weekend.

Arsenal should expect to take full advantage of their slipping morale.

Arsenal to win, 2-0.

Head to head (h2h) history and results
