According to Inter Miami, a full house ushered in the opening of Nu Stadium in the heart of Miami, with co-owners Jorge Mas and David Beckham leading the inauguration.

On the pitch, Lionel Messi scored the venue’s first goal, striking in front of La Familia beneath signage honouring the club’s four titles. Luis Suárez added the second.

In pre-match remarks, Jorge Mas hailed the club delivering on its promise to build a stadium and spoke of a new chapter aimed at lifting more trophies. David Beckham reflected on his two-decade MLS journey and standing in the new home with Lionel Messi in club colours. Earlier, the pair oversaw a ribbon cutting at the gates.

Head coach Javier Mascherano praised a first-class stadium, full and ready, and credited staff for making opening night possible. Goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair described the atmosphere as rocking, and the team felt it on the pitch. Defender Maximiliano Falcón highlighted unwavering backing from start to finish.

A festive programme ran across the 131-acre Miami Freedom Park district, reached by public transport and by car. Fans enjoyed the Baptist Health Fan Zone and the largest Team Store in MLS, and singer Marc Anthony performed the national anthem before kick-off.

After the final whistle, the Modelo After Party on the Terraces featured a set by Grammy-winning producer and DJ Cedric Gervais. As Mas framed it, this is only the beginning, with Nu Stadium set to host Miami’s passion as the club pursue further silverware.
