Matheus Nunes will make his 100th City appearance in Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Galatasaray.
The Portuguese international hits the landmark midway through his third campaign at the Etihad Stadium.
Having starred in central midfield for the majority of his career before moving to City, Nunes has since developed into a highly versatile option for Pep Guardiola.
That has led to the 27-year-old becoming one of the most consistent full-backs in the Premier League over the last 12 months, regularly putting in outstanding displays on the right of the defence.
With his natural energy to get up and down the wing and his eye for a pass, Nunes’ attacking prowess was never in doubt.
Our No.27 has also greatly developed defensively since starting to play regularly in the backline, keeping some of the most dangerous wingers in world football at bay.
He featured sporadically in his first season at City, eventually appearing 31 times as we won the Premier League for a record fourth year in a row.
Most of those appearances came as part of the midfield, with the likes of Rodri, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne first choice in that area during that campaign.
2024/25 saw him used on the left wing during a difficult period for the side before moving to right-back in January in place of the long-standing Kyle Walker.

He quickly became Guardiola’s favoured choice in that position, eventually supplying 11 assists in total from 43 outings that term.
Nunes appears to have gone to another level still in 2025/26, with the Galatasaray clash marking his 28th appearance so far.
65 of his City games so far have come in the Premier League, with 19 in the Champions League and handfuls across the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Club World Cup.
Before moving to England with Wolves, Nunes stood out at Sporting CP in Portugal, where he played 101 times.
Internationally, he’s played 17 times for Portugal, scoring twice.
Congratulations to Matheus on this latest landmark in his career!
