A new era begins for the Burkina Faso national team. The newly appointed coach, Amir Abdou, has officially assumed his role. The contract signing and formal presentation took place on March 5 in Ouagadougou.
Amir Abdou inked a contract for two years, committing to lead the Stallions from March 1, 2026, until February 28, 2028. The French-Comorian coach succeeds Brama Traoré, who was commended for his previous work with the team.
The first words from the former Comoros and Mauritania coach were filled with excitement and ambition. “I'm happy to meet you. I know Burkina Faso is a country passionate about football, and I am truly delighted to be here. I hope we can achieve great things together with the Stallions, a team that deserves significant recognition in African football,” he said.
The new coach will have to quickly prepare for the upcoming FIFA international break in March. The Stallions’ opponents for this window have yet to be announced.
