With the 2026 FIFA World Cup only a few weeks away, national teams have started announcing the squads for the tournament set to be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
And, in what comes as a blow, FC Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji has been left out of the Sweden squad that will fly to North America for the summer extravaganza.
Indeed, manager Graham Potter announced the 26-man squad for the World Cup earlier today, and as it turns out, there is no place for Bardghji on the list.
It comes as a bitter blow for the 20-year-old winger who joined Barcelona last summer from FC Copenhagen.
Regular game-time has been hard to come by for the youngster at Barça, which is likely to have played a part in his omission from the Sweden squad.
After all, Bardghji has only played 783 minutes of football across 26 matches for the Catalans, in which he has two goals and four assists.
Given the situation, it is not ruled out that Bardghji leaves Barcelona in the summer, possibly on loan or a permanent transfer with a buyback clause.
The 20-year-old attacker has featured three times for Sweden at the international level in the past. But, for now, his World Cup dreams will have to wait.
