Official: Barcelona announce defender departure | OneFootball

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Monday announced a fresh departure from the club’s defensive ranks.

The player to have brought a (temporary) close to his stint in Catalunya’s capital? Clément Lenglet.

The name of stopper Lenglet has of course long positioned itself front and centre in the transfer headlines across Spain.

This comes after word was forthcoming that, amid Barcelona’s ongoing efforts to shift the big-earning Frenchman off their books, La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid had positioned themselves as the leading contenders for his signature.

Late last week, word was then forthcoming that an agreement had been reached between the respective boards at the Camp Nou, and Wanda Metropolitano, over the terms of a deal:

And, as alluded to above, on Monday, the transfer has in turn been made official.

As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms:

‘FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid have reached an agreement for the loan of the French defender Clément Lenglet until 30 June 2025. There is no option of a permanent transfer.’
