With the way they have started this new year, FC Barcelona have eliminated the few doubts that emerged about the Catalan team’s performance in the last few weeks of 2024.
Since the turn of the calendar, the Blaugranes have won all of their matches, including the two Spanish Super Cup matches against top Spanish opposition, i.e., Athletic Club and Real Madrid.
Following these victories, Barcelona are now set to play their second Copa del Rey match-up next, in which they will face Real Betis at the Montjuic.
Naturally, Hansi Flick’s side will be looking for another win in this game, as it will allow them to advance to the quarter-finals of the competition.
The Blaugranes are already well set for this game, as they have announced a full-strength squad. However, there are still some notable injury absences.
The most prominent of these absences is that of Iñigo Martínez, who has been a starting centre-back for Flick this season, but who suffered an injury in the game against Real Madrid and is set to remain out of action for the next month or so.
Thus, he joins the likes of Marc-André ter Stegen, Marc Bernal, and Andreas Christensen in the Barcelona infirmary. Wojciech Szczęsny will also miss this game due to the red card he received in the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid.
