Given the excellent season that the Catalans enjoyed in the league, it is natural that some of the players will be in the running for the league’s end-of-season awards.

Indeed, teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has been nominated for the La Liga Player of the Season prize.

The 18-year-old wonderkid will go up against Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, Real Betis’ Pablo Fornals, Villarreal winger Nicolas Pepe, and Mallorca striker Vedat Muriqi.

Lamine enjoyed an exceptional campaign once again even though it was cut short by injuries. He finished with 16 goals from 28 league matches, finishing as the joint-highest Spanish goalscorer in the competition along with Ferran Torres. He also added 12 assists.

Meanwhile, fellow La Masia graduate Fermin Lopez has been nominated for the La Liga U23 Player of the Season prize.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who also suffered an injury towards the end of the season, enjoyed a fine season, with six goals and nine assists from 30 matches in all competitions.

Fermin will have to compete with Real Madrid’s Arda Guler, Carlos Espi of Levante, Alberto Moleiro of Villarreal, and Victor Munoz of CA Osasuna.

On top of that, manager Hansi Flick is in the running to win the La Liga Coach of the Season award.

In his second season in Spain, the German tactician has once again masterminded a league title triumph, with the team coming close to hitting the 100-point mark if not for a couple of missteps in the final matches.

Flick will compete for the award against Getafe’s Jose Bordalas and Villarreal coach Marcelino.

Finally, Joan Garcia, who has won the Zamora Trophy, is also in the running for the La Liga Save of the Season for his brilliant stop in the game against Espanyol.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper made a sensational stop to deny Pere Milla from close range, with the stop already winning the La Liga Save of the Month for January.
