A member of the midfield ranks at Barcelona has this week secured for himself a fresh piece of individual silverware.

The player in question? Pedri. The prize? La Liga’s Goal of the Month for August.

Midfielder Pedri is for his part fresh off a stellar opening to the new campaign in the colours of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.

From his berth in the middle of the park, the 22-year-old has continued to stand out as arguably world football’s best in his role.

Pedri has shone in every aspect of the game, from passing to dribbling, creating and defensive work.

The highlight of his month in August from an individual standpoint, though, came against Levante in gameweek 2.

After Barcelona found themselves trailing by two goals to nil, Pedri kickstarted another ‘remontada’, by way of a goal early in the 2nd-half.

Picked out by Lamine Yamal 25 yards from goal, the Spanish international directed an unstoppable effort into the far top corner.

And as alluded to above, as much has since proven enough to secure for Pedri a high-profile prize.

As announced across La Liga’s social media platforms, the Blaugrana standout has bagged the award for La Liga Goal of the Month.
