Barcelona have taken another step in strengthening their long-term project by securing the future of promising young forward Shane Kluivert, who has officially extended his contract until June 2028.
The 18-year-old, son of Barcelona legend Patrick Kluivert, continues to follow in familiar footsteps as he commits his future to the Catalan club beyond his formative years in the academy.
This renewal is seen as a clear vote of confidence in his development and potential.
The signing ceremony took place at the Joan Gamper Training Centre.
Present at the event were key figures within the club’s youth structure, including Jose Ramon Alexanco and Andres Manzano, as well as Sergi Mila, all of whom play important roles in shaping the next generation of players.
“Barcelona has reached an agreement with player Shane Kluivert to renew his contract, which will keep him at the Club for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2028,” read the statement from the club.
On the pitch, Kluivert has built a reputation as a versatile and intelligent attacker.
His ability to operate across multiple positions in the frontline makes him a valuable asset in modern football, where tactical flexibility is increasingly important.
Whether deployed centrally or out wide, he has shown an understanding of movement and space that stands out at his age.
This season, he has been a regular starter for the Juvenil A side and has already made his mark in European competition.
His contributions in the UEFA Youth League include three goals, highlighting his capacity to deliver on bigger stages.
Beyond youth football, Kluivert has also gained valuable senior experience with Barça Atletic under Juliano Belletti.
Despite being only 18, he has already made 16 appearances in the Segunda Federacion, registering two goals and three assists.
