Longtime West Ham United right back Vladimir Coufal’s switch to the Bundesliga is complete. Hoffenheim have snapped the 32-year-old up on a free after the Hammers declined to extend his contract at the end of last season. Coufal’s new German club did not divulge the length of his new working papers.
Hoffenheim were eager to play up Coufal’s Premier League experience in their public statements accompanying the signing. Coufal brings with him the experience of 180 competitive games in the Premier League, Conference League, and Europa League.
“Thanks to his experience, he will hardly need any time to settle in with us in the Bundesliga,” TSG sporting director Andreas Schicker noted in his club statement. “We are convinced that he will ideally complement our team with his excellent mentality and individual quality in the coming season.”
“After my years in England with West Ham United, I am now looking forward to a new challenge in the German Bundesliga,” the player himself added. “The talks with TSG were all excellent, so I didn’t have to think twice. I am convinced that this team has great potential.”
