Official | Ibrahima Konaté to leave Liverpool as a free agent

Liverpool FC have confirmed that France international centre-back Ibrahima Konaté (27) will leave the Reds upon the expiry of the five-year contract he signed back in 2021. Konaté joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig over a €40m transfer fee. The Paris FC and Sochaux youth graduate went on to feature 183 times with Liverpool, with which he won four major trophies: the 2022 and 2024 Carabao Cup, the 2022 FA Cup and the 2024-2025 Premier League.

Talks over a contract renewal dragged on for more than a year, but no agreement has been reached between both parties. “Konate will depart with our gratitude and appreciation for the contribution he made and everyone at the club wishes him the best for the future”, Liverpool added in their statement. Konaté is currently at Clairefontaine for France’s World Cup training camp. The France international is reportedly a target for Al-Ittihad.
