Marcus Rashford has officially completed his loan move from Manchester United to Aston Villa.
United have released a club statement which reads, “Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the 2024/25 season.”
“Everyone at Manchester United wishes Marcus good luck for the rest of the season.”
Villa have also confirmed Rashford has joined Unai Emery’s ranks, where he will ply his trade for the next six months.
Reacting to the move, Rashford wrote on Instagram,
“I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen.”
“I was lucky to have a few clubs approach me but Aston Villa was an easy decision – I really admire the way that Aston Villa have been playing this season, and the managers’ ambitions.”
“I just want to play football and am excited to get started. I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season.”
Earlier on Sunday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Rashford’s loan transfer includes a £40m option to make his signing permanent.
It’s understood that Villa will also pay a large portion of the forward’s wages to facilitate his switch from Old Trafford.
According to The Athletic, Villa will contribute a minimum of three-quarters of Rashford’s wages for the duration of his stay at Villa Park and up to 90 per cent depending on performance-based bonuses.
Rashford’s current contract, valued at more than £325,000 per week, puts him among the top earners at Villa.
Villa are back in action next Sunday when they face Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
