Milan have officially announced the signing of former RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku on a permanent deal from Premier League side Chelsea, which could end up costing the Rossoneri €43m if all bonuses are achieved.

Alfredo Pedullà and Football Italia reported on Thursday that Milan’s agreement with Chelsea for Nkunku was for a fixed fee of €37-€38m, with performance-related bonuses linked to personal and collective achievements at an additional €4m-€5m.

Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport earlier in the week claimed that the Frenchman had agreed to take a pay cut in order to join Milan, and that he will earn less than €5m per season on his Rossoneri contract.

What Milan said about Nkunku

“AC Milan is delighted to announce the permanent signing of Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea FC. The French forward has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2030,” Milan said.

“Born in Lagny-sur-Marne (France) on 14 November 1997, Nkunku developed in the Paris Saint-Germain academy and made his first-team debut for the Club in 2025. He went on to score 11 goals in 78 appearances for the Parisian giants, winning two Coupe de France titles, three French Supercups and two Coupe de la Ligue titles.

It was in 2023 that he moved to England to join Chelsea. He ended his time in West London with 18 goals in 62 games, as well as triumphs in the Conference League and Club World Cup this summer.

“He made his full international debut for France in March 2022 after having risen through Les Bleus’ youth set-up. To date, he has 14 caps and one goal for his country.

“Nkunku will wear the number 18 shirt.”

Prior to his Chelsea move, Nkunku made 119 Bundesliga appearances with RB Leipzig, scoring 47 goals in the process, plus another seven goals from 17 Champions League outings.

The Frenchman also has four years in the PSG first team on his CV, having graduated from the club’s academy in 2015.
