Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen have officially announced their signing of left-back Miguel Gutierrez from Napoli, who leaves the Partenopei after just one season.

Leverkusen have agreed to pay a fee of €30m including bonuses for the Spanish full-back according to reports earlier this week. The German club have confirmed that the 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract that will run until the summer of 2031.

Gutierrez is expected to be Leverkusen’s like-for-like replacement for compatriot Alejandro Grimaldo, who left the club after three years to join Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.

Gutierrez brings an immediate profit to Napoli, having joined the Partenopei in a €20m deal from Girona during the previous summer transfer window in 2025.

He made 36 appearances across all competitions during his time in Italy, including 28 in Serie A as Napoli finished runners-up behind the double-winning Inter.

“The club left a great impression on me over the last few years. Bayer 04 has an excellent reputation in Italy and also in my homeland in Spain,” Gutierrez said upon his signing for Leverkusen.

“I’ve heard a lot about the Bundesliga, I’ve seen a lot of games and am looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere in German stadiums,” he continued. “More than anything, I want to be successful nationally and internationally. Bayer Leverkusen has an excellent team to achieve that.”
