The Moroccan defender bolsters Bordeaux's backline after leaving Le Havre
Oualid El Hajjam / FC Girondins de Bordeaux
Oualid El Hajjam signed a two-year contract with the Girondins de Bordeaux on September 10, 2025. The Aquitaine-based club brought him in to fill the void left by Nadjib Cissé, who is sidelined long-term with a knee injury.
Oualid El Hajjam joins Bordeaux as a free agent after terminating his contract with Le Havre. The 34-year-old Moroccan defender becomes part of the Bordeaux squad in direct response to the injury suffered by Nadjib Cissé, who ruptured his cruciate ligaments during pre-season. With Bordeaux's wage bill still under DNCG supervision, the club was able to finalize El Hajjam's arrival thanks to Cissé's salary being covered by medical insurance.
A product of the Châteauroux academy, El Hajjam has played for several French clubs, including Amiens, Troyes, and Le Havre. He boasts 69 Ligue 1 appearances and 114 in Ligue 2. His versatility—capable of playing both as a central defender and on the right flank—perfectly fits Bordeaux's immediate needs. El Hajjam has already crossed paths with current Bordeaux coach Bruno Irles during their shared stint at Troyes in the 2021-2022 season.
