RB Leipzig have announced the signing of Max Finkgräfe (21) from 1. FC Köln for a reported €4m. The left-back has signed a long-term contract until 2030 and will provide competition for David Raum.

“We’re really pleased that Max has decided to join RB Leipzig,” said Marcel Schäfer. “He’s a really talented and versatile left-back, whose main strengths are his athleticism and dynamism. His fighting spirit and strong will to win will be a real asset to our squad. Despite his young age, Max already has Bundesliga experience and plenty of potential to develop further. His signing gives us greater flexibility and more options at left-back.”

Finkgräfe added: “I’m really happy that my future lies in Leipzig.

“The club is known for its good work with young players, so it wasn’t a tough decision once I knew RB were interested in me. During conversations with the club and Marcel Schäfer, I was shown a clear plan for my future, one that I was really happy with. I’m excited to start training next week and to play alongside David Raum, a current Germany international, on the left wing.”

Finkgräfe played 40 games across all competitions for the Billy Goats, scoring one goal.
