Real Madrid’s representation in the Spanish national team has been bleak for a while now, with Dani Carvajal being the team’s only regular member in La Roja’s regular call-ups.

The veteran’s long-term injury last season, however, left Real Madrid with no representation in the national team for a period of time and only the arrival of Dean Huijsen changed that situation.

The youngster was already a part of the senior national team loop, and his move to Real Madrid only elevated his status under Luis de la Fuente.

At this point, he is a regular starter for La Roja and one of the best players in his department.

Called up once more

With the international break set to return after Real Madrid’s next game, the RFEF officially announced the squad for the upcoming hiatus and Huijsen, unsurprisingly, is a part of the roster.

Carvajal, Real Madrid’s other mainstay in the national team, misses out through injury as he is only set to return in 2026.

Spain are set to play two games in the international break – against Georgia and Turkey – and it is safe to say that Huijsen will have a big role to play on both nights.

The 20-year-old was not at his best against Liverpool and will look to bounce back to his usual level when Real Madrid take on Rayo Vallecano later this week.

So far this season, the youngster has started in nine of Real Madrid’s league games and has overseen two clean sheets in that duration. He averages over ten defensive actions per game.

Further, he has played 90 minutes in three of Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League games and has overseen one clean sheet for the club.
