Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Piotr Zielinski in midfield against Juventus. This evening’s Serie A matchday 9 clash kicks off at 18.00 CET.

Inter coach Inzaghi has aimed to start as strong an eleven as possible against Juventus.

The Derby d’Italia is always a massive fixture for Inter, and has the air of a potential title-decider.

Therefore, Inzaghi has named a very strong starting eleven.

However, there are a couple notable injury absences that the Nerazzurri coach has had to work around.

FIrst of all, Francesco Acerbi is out with a thigh problem. Therefore, Stefan de Vrij starts in the centre of a back three with Benjamin Pavard and Alessandro Bastoni.

Yann Sommer, meanwhile, starts in goal as he has all season.

Then, on the flanks, Denzel Dumfries gets the nod over Matteo Darmian on the right. And then, at left-wingback, it is no surprise to see Federico Dimarco.

Piotr ZIelinski Gets The Nod In Midfield

Perhaps Inzaghi’s most significant selection dilemma has come in midfield.

Hakan Calhanoglu is out with a thigh strain. Therefore, Inzaghi has to cope without one of his key players.

Nicolo Barella has played in holding midfield in Calhanoglu’s place against Roma and Young Boys – however, the 27-year-old has moved to his customary spot on the right of midfield.

Therefore, there have been a couple options for Inzaghi.

Kristjan Asllani is the natural backup for Calhanoglu in the squad. And Inzaghi confirmed that he would aim to start the Albanian if he were ready.

However, reportedly Asllani is still feeling some discomfort from a knee issue that has caused him to miss Inter’s last couple matches.

Therefore, Inzaghi has instead opted to start Piotr Zielinski in holding midfield.

Lastly, Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram lead the line in attack for Inter.

Meanwhile, aside from Acerbi and Calhanoglu, Inter are also missing Carlos Augusto to a thigh strain.

On the other hand, Tajon Buchanan is in his first Nerazzurri matchday squad this season after coming back from a season. However, he is hardly ready to start.
