UEFA have today provided an update on the admission of Crystal Palace and Olympique Lyonnais to the 2025-2026 Europa League, owing to a potential conflict with multi-club ownership which is part of Article 5 of the UEFA club competitions regulations. In an official statement, the European governing body have decided to postpone its assessment of the multi-club ownership case involving Lyon and Crystal Palace – after Lyon reached a settlement agreement with the CFCB First Chamber for its breach of financial sustainability requirements. As part of this settlement, Lyon have “agreed on an exclusion from the 2025-2026 UEFA club competitions should the French authority (DNCG) confirm the club’s relegation to Ligue 2”.“Further details on this multi-club ownership case and this settlement agreement will be communicated in due course,” read UEFA’s statement.Les Gones were handed an administrative relegation due to the club’s financial situation last week, despite Eagle Football Group attempting to pull various financial levers to try and convince the French financial authority that their situation had improved. This included the sale of now former president John Textor’s stake in Crystal Palace and OL’s women’s team.Today it was announced that Textor had resigned as president of the club, giving way to Michele Kang to take the reigns as president. Kang, the president of OL Lyonnes and a shareholder in Eagle Groupe, has now been appointed Chairman and CEO of Eagle Football Group and CEO of OL. Michael Gerlinger, meanwhile, has been appointed Director General.GFFN | George Boxall
