Oliver Glasner says Daichi Kamada faces a few weeks out after the midfielder sustained a hamstring injury in Crystal Palace’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.

According to The Standard, Kamada was replaced by Will Hughes in the 67th minute after receiving treatment on the pitch, then limped down the touchline for further assessment rather than rejoining the bench.

Ismaila Sarr returned from an ankle ligament injury, but Palace are already managing Jean-Philippe Mateta’s minutes, while Daniel Munoz has been ruled out until the new year following knee surgery.

With fixtures stacking up over the festive period and Sarr due to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations next week, Glasner’s options are thinning. He had called last month for attacking reinforcements in January, and Kamada’s absence will increase pressure on the club to back him when the window opens.

Glasner said the problem is in Kamada’s hamstring and that scans are planned for tomorrow, adding it stemmed from an overstretching incident. He joked with the player on the touchline, said it appears Palace will be without him for a few weeks, praised his display, and insisted another player will step up.
