Oliver Glasner’s arrival at Nottingham Forest adds to the tension with Crystal Palace, and a move for Daichi Kamada could be his ideal first fix in midfield.
According to Nottingham Post, he is the fifth permanent head coach at the City Ground and could implement a 3-4-1-2 or 3-4-3.
Forest, having taken Palace’s Europa League place last season, have now hired the manager who delivered the Eagles’ most successful spell, winning the FA Cup and UEFA Conference League.
He has already highlighted the squad’s potential. Yet he will not have Elliot Anderson, who is with England at the World Cup before joining his Manchester City team-mates, leaving a sizeable gap in midfield.
Ibrahim Sangare could become the regular next season, with room and funds for a new signing.
At Palace, Adam Wharton was first choice and often partnered Kamada, whom Glasner knew from Eintracht Frankfurt and signed on a free in summer 2024. Initially seen as an attacking midfielder, Kamada settled into the No 6 role vacated by Anderson.
Kamada is now out of contract. Palace have offered the 29-year-old a new deal and view him as central to their Europa League campaign, with suggestions he could commit after his World Cup. Even so, Glasner could target him to solve an immediate need, and both have spoken highly of each other.
