Oliver Glasner has restated that no Crystal Palace player will start both this week’s European tie and Saturday night’s Premier League trip to Elland Road.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the head coach has reiterated a vow to make 11 changes for Leeds, with KuPs visiting Selhurst Park on Thursday in the Europa Conference League and the league game following 48 hours later.
He says Thursday’s line-up will hint at who Leeds face, and stresses player welfare. Referencing a recent conversation with Will Hughes, he noted that the midfielder had played on Boxing Day and 28 December a few years ago, but argued the game’s intensity has increased.
Saturday will be Leeds United’s 18th game of the campaign, but matchday 28 for Palace, and Glasner says he cannot be irresponsible with his squad given what lies ahead.
He highlighted fixtures on 18th, 20th, 23rd and 28th December, then first, fourth, seventh and 10th January, adding that Palace will start completely different XIs in the two matches while sharing minutes if possible.
Leeds hope to have Lukas Nmecha available after a calf problem kept him out of the past two games.
