OM and Frank McCourt entourage welcome adoption of French sport governance reform law | OneFootball

The adoption of France's professional sport governance reform has been welcomed by OM and figures around Frank McCourt. The club's camp had pressed the issue for months.

According to L'Équipe, McCourt Global chief Shéhérazade Semsar-de Boisséson and Image 7 made the reform a priority from spring 2025. Joseph Oughourlian on Tuesday cited OM's proactive stance as the bill passed definitively.

Image 7, which handles McCourt's communications and those of FFF president Philippe Diallo, dedicated staff to lobbying MPs and refining the bill. Diallo had described the LFP as an empty shell on 12 May 2025.

Semsar-de Boisséson, vice-chair of OM's supervisory board and McCourt Global CEO, began attending LFP board meetings in autumn 2025 and joined the board in May. Then club president Pablo Longoria said in December 2025 that she brought real expertise to a technical issue, and he had moved from ally of Nasser al-Khelaifi and Vincent Labrune to critic.

She said the near-unanimous vote was a necessary first step to rebuild a weakened French football and to set a clear framework for reforms. She added that OM had contributed to the debate for more than a year and called for unity in the general interest.

For McCourt, once close to Vincent Labrune during CVC's arrival in 2021-2022, the stakes are clear. An OM under austerity needs robust domestic TV income to remain viable in the medium term, and to be sold at a higher price further down the line.
