Scotland are back after 28 years! So how excited are you for this World Cup?

I’m really looking forward to it. It’s great that we’ll be in North America for the first few days of the tournament, so we’ll be able to watch the match against Haiti before our show in Seattle. We’re currently in San Francisco and I went to a fan zone to see some of the Mexico vs South Africa match.

What's your favourite World Cup memory as a Scotland fan?

It’s not one that’s really talked about that much compared to things like the win against the Netherlands in 1978, or Narey’s goal against Brazil in 1982, but my favourite is probably the 2-1 win against Sweden at Italia 90. It’s the only match I’ve actually seen us win in a World Cup finals so far, and my favourite player, Roy Aitken captained the team, and won the penalty that put us 2-0 up.

How do you rate Scotland's chances this year?

With the expanded format of the tournament this time I think we’ve got a reasonable chance of getting in the knockout stage - 50/50 maybe. A lot depends on the opening game against Haiti, who I think will be tougher than a lot of people expect.

If Scotland are to go far this year, which one player do you think will be key to that success?

Scott McTominay is the obvious answer, but really we’ll need players all over the pitch to perform. We’ll obviously have to do a lot of defending against Brazil and Morocco, and we’ll need the likes of Gannon-Doak, Christie and McGinn all to play well in midfield and attack too.

Who do you think will win the World Cup and why?

I’d make France the favourites, they’ve probably got the best squad overall, then maybe Spain. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s those two in the final. I’d like to see Japan do well, but I’d be surprised if they go all the way.
