What games are on today?

France v Senegal

Quite possibly the most exciting group stage game at this tournament.

France are heavy favourites to win the whole thing but Senegal come into this off the back of an impressive African Cup of Nations.

You simply don't want to miss this one.

Our prediction: France 2-1 Senegal

Iraq v Norway

Erling Haaland joins the World Cup and will be hoping to make the ultimate impression as Norway return to the tournament having last qualified in 1998.

The Manchester City man will have goals on his mind with the Scandinavian nation targeting three points in this tricky group.

Our prediction: Iraq 0-4 Norway

Argentina v Algeria

Argentina won in Qatar and now get their defence underway against a dogged Algerian outfit.

Can Lionel Messi produce once again in what's almost certain to be his last World Cup? If anyone can, he can.

Our prediction: Argentina 2-0 Algeria

Austria v Jordan

Jordan are making their World Cup debut here but face a tricky opener in Austria.

Ralf Rangnick's side looked excellent in qualifying and could surprise a few people in this tournament.

Our prediction: Austria 3-0 Jordan

How could we pick anyone else for this section?

Lionel Messi will make his World Cup 2026 debut later today with Argentina aiming to become the first side since Brazil in 1962 to win back-to-back tournaments.

In Algeria though, they face a tough opponent who conceded just eight goals in qualification.

Messi also picked up a slight injury in his final match before the World Cup but reports in his home country say that the GOAT will be fit to play here.

Can you give me one stat to impress my friends?

  1. France and Senegal are meeting at a World Cup for only the second time. Their first encounter came in the opening match of the 2002 tournament where Senegal won 1-0.
