Onel Hernandez vents his anger towards Marcelino Nunez having completed a move to Ipswich Town

Ex-Norwich City winger Onel Hernandez has spoken out on former teammate Marcelino Nunez's move to Ipswich Town

With his departure coming as no surprise to many Norwich fans, with the 25-year-old being a key performer in their side over the past few seasons, hence attracting a lot of attention from other clubs, it wasn't expected that Ipswich would be his next destination.

It is the first major transfer between the bitter rivals since Andy Marshall in 2001.

After undergoing his medical with the Tractor Boys on Wednesday night, his switch across East Anglia has been confirmed, and has been met with uproar on social media from Canaries fans.

As well as fans showcasing their anger, ex-Norwich City winger Onel Hernandez also made his feelings clear via his YouTube channel, and they certainly weren't supportive.

Hernandez, who spent seven years with the Canaries before being currently without a club this summer, shared the pitch with his teammate Nunez for three years, where the pair formed an exciting attacking partnership. However, with Nunez's surprising exit to Portman Road on the cards, the Chilean has been quick to receive backlash.

Hernandez took to his YouTube channel in which he posted a 13-minute rant about his thoughts and feelings about his ex-teammates' potential transfer.

Hernandez said "I told him [Nunez] you know if you consider a move there [Ipswich] what would happen. I explained to him everything. He knew about it."

"I said this to him, 'if I get a chance at playing against you, I will f*cking break you'. "

He went on to say, "I don't believe that Norwich City would ever consider to sell him to that club... Because of the fans. For the fans, that would be a disaster, and it is a f*cking disaster!"

"For all we are standing for as Norwich City supporters, in my opinion, that is a disaster for what's happened there... I told him, 'I couldn't believe that this is even possible'."

"This is a disgrace move from him. I absolutely agree with everyone. He was one of my good friends, but obviously, with that move, I'm not sure if I want to continue that friendship with him."

It's no secret the long-standing rivalry between Norwich and Ipswich. The bitter enemies now being back in the same division after Ipswich's relegation from the Premier League is sure going to add fuel to the fire, especially with Nunez swapping yellow for blue.

With this type of transfer coming as a rarity, it's of no surprise that the move has been frowned upon. Despite Norwich receiving a large sum of £10m that could be reinvested into the club, Hernandez made it very clear by saying that "football is not just business, football means much more for some people than just business."

"You have to think about the people that support and spend their hard-earned money week in-week out and what they stand for. Some things you can't just take with money, it is history."

With only a few days left to go until the transfer window's closure on 1st September, Norwich must find a suitable replacement for Nunez, who was regarded as one of the club's most important players. With the club already receiving masses of backlash from their fans, if this isn't to happen, their connection could soon turn sour.
