Later this evening Celtic will resume league duty with a home clash against rock bottom Livingston, as the season enters a crucial phase, a period which could very well determine the destination of the title.

It’s a game of great importance, and although three points is the main objective, we could do with going on something of a goal blitz in a bid to boost our goal difference, something that could prove pivotal come May when the prizes are handed out.

Another game of significance this evening, is the clash ten miles or so down the road in Lanarkshire which sees high flying Motherwell take on theRangers at Fir Park, with the Ibrox side much like ourselves trying to apply more pressure onto leaders Hearts, who left it late to win last night’s Edinburgh Derby clash with Hibs at Tynecastle.

The Steelmen will prove a tough opponent for the rejuvenated Ibrox side, whom the SMSM would have you believe are the reincarnation of Brazil 1970.

We saw for ourselves the danger Well pose in our last visit to Fir Park back at the end of December, and they are sure to make it just as tough for the Govan Galacticos. Celtic were under the guidance of Wilfried Nancy back then and the team looked completely lost.

It will be natural for our supporters to keep an eye out on developments in Lanarkshire, but the only result that matters is the one taking place under the lights at Celtic Park.

Just like the two other sides involved in the title race, our destiny is very much in our own hands.

We’ve now strengthened to our already talented and experienced squad. The title is well within our reach, and although a little help from other sides along the way naturally helps, we don’t need to worry about anyone else.

It’s only what we do tonight that matters, no one else. If Motherwell win that’s a bonus but it’s all about Celtic taking care of our own business and at Celtic Park for the rest of the campaign we need to win all our games.

We’re certainly good enough and of the three title challengers only Celtic has an abundance of experience in getting title wins over the line. This season should be no different and the first task towards that objective is tonight against Livingston.
