The Five Moments that made Mo Salah a Liverpool Legend   With the sad news of one of Liverpool’s best-ever players, Mohamed Salah, leaving at the end of the season, it seems like a great time to look back and reminisce on what has been an illustrious spell at Liverpool.   The Egyptian King, as we fans know him, has scored 189 goals and 93 assists in 310 appearances in the Premier League, making up a large proportion of his 255 goals in 435 games, which puts him third in the all-time top goal scorers list at the club.   This has helped him break at least thirty records since joining in the summer of 2017, including the most goals in a 38-game season (32); the most goals and assists in a 38-game season (47); the most golden boots (4); the most goals and assists for one Premier League club (377); and the most goals in the Champions League for an English club (50).   This incredible contribution to the team has seen Liverpool with Mo Salah in the team win two Premier League titles, a Champions League, two League Cups and an FA Cup, making him one of Liverpool’s most decorated players as the poster boy of the successes over the last ten years.   Here, we are going to look back at the five best moments of the Egyptian King’s career as he begins his farewell parade towards the end of the season.

1) The Champions League quarter-final goal against Manchester City (10th April 2018)

A goal that not only secured Liverpool’s place in the semi-finals of the competition but also made everyone wake up to the brilliance of Mo Salah. Ending that season with 32 goals in the Premier League, people really saw his class as he performed in the biggest game of the season. The Egyptian king was born.   2.) That goal against Chelsea (14th April 2019)

Playing in a difficult blockbuster fixture during a title race brings either the best or the worst out of players. With Mo Salah, it brought the best out of him, as this was probably the best strike of his career. With the rocket from outside the box doubling the lead to secure three points and maintain a two-point gap with rivals Manchester City at the time, it showed yet again why Salah was one of the best players in the world as he continued to show up when the team needed him most.   3.) The Champions League final (1st June 2019)   From one big game to another in the 2018/19 season, this summed up Salah’s season brilliantly. A crucial penalty early on to kill hope for Spurs as Liverpool made it Champions League number six in Madrid. Salah ended that season with 27 goals and 10 assists in 52 appearances as his status as one of the best in the world was secured on football’s biggest stage in club football. The goal kick-started what all Liverpool fans knew would be a historic Champions League win.   4.) Securing the league title against Manchester United with that goal (Sunday, 19th January 2020)   A vintage Liverpool performance saw the game won by the Egyptian King, finishing off a brutally quick counter-attack, with the league pretty much secured as all fans accepted at the time. The celebration was iconic. Shirt off. Met by Alisson Becker, who has never run so quickly again in his life. The realisation that the Premier League title would come to Anfield had sunk in with not just the fans but the players too. The way Salah roared in celebration showed just how important that was, and the whole goal will be something I never forget. Truly a special goal with Mo at the forefront again.    5.) The goal against Spurs to make it number 20 (May 2025)   A sublime season, which was Salah’s best since 2017/18, this goal summed up his season. Being his favourite goal, he’s scored at the club because of how the fans reacted and appreciated him; it showed everyone why he deserved to be in the Ballon d’Or conversations, as well as being regarded as the best in the world. 34 goals in all competitions is an incredible feat, and as the whole city had the most incredible party the whole day, “Mo Salah! Mo Salah! Running down the wing” echoed round Liverpool as he almost carried Liverpool to number 20 with the impact he made.

A perfect end to the most incredible season, and the best memory to end his career on.   Mohamed Salah has been the face of the Premier League for a number of years, and so seeing a legend like that leave the club is always going to be sad, but both the player and the club understood it was the right time to go.

The joy and feeling you get in the stadium and on the TV watching Salah dribbling at defenders and putting the ball in the back of the net so consistently is something you can never forget as a fan.

Not only was his impact on the pitch felt, but off it was where permanent change was made. Hate crimes in the city towards Muslims were reduced by 19%, showing how important it is to have the Egyptian king in the city. An incredible footballer, a role model and, most of all, a peacemaker.
