Returning to my family after a few intense weeks of football is incredibly important to me. Finding a short break here is something I always cherish. I have so much love for the people and the city here. All the places in Copenhagen always bring back childhood memories and evoke a lot of nostalgia.

Back to the beginnings

For Origins, we flew with Mads to his homeland. In Copenhagen, the midfield maestro shows us his very own Denmark. The journey takes us to the places that laid the foundation for Mads' career. At his old school, he recalls the balancing act between education and professional sports, giving us insights into his personal development. Not only does Mads himself speak, but his parents also provide a deep insight into his childhood.

Visiting family and his start at continental Europe's oldest club

The heart of his footballing education lies at the legendary KB (Kjøbenhavns Boldklub). A visit to this historic ground is like walking through a museum: founded in 1876, KB is considered the oldest football club in continental Europe outside the British Isles. It's an institution that, as the founding club of today's FC Copenhagen, has made waves internationally. The tour concludes with a private glimpse into the Bidstrup family home, the place where the typically Danish values of solidarity and hard work were instilled.

Even though he has long since settled in and is happy in Salzburg, his connection to Denmark remains vital. In the video, he takes us to his favourite personal spots in Copenhagen and explains why the city is still his most important retreat. With the right mix of Danish hygge and the unwavering will to make it to the top without losing touch with reality, we see how the little boy developed into the man who would become the captain of our Red Bulls.
