Orlando Pirates moved to the top of the Betway Premiership table after a 2-0 victory over Durban City at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

Evidence Makgopa opened the scoring in the 27th minute after pouncing on an assist from Bucs starlet Relebohile Mofokeng.

Patrick Maswanganyi put the game to bed when he finished off a team move off after receiving a pass from early player of the season contender Oswin Appollis in the 77th minute.

As a result, Pirates moved to the summit of the Betway Prwmiership table with three points over second-placed and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, who visit Siwelele FC on Wednesday.

Masandawana have a chance to reclaim top spot should they avoid defeat in Bloemfontein next month.

Meanwhile, Abdeslam Ouaddou's men will be aiming to lift a second trophy in the 2025/26 season when they face off against Marumo Gallants in the Carling Knockout Cup final at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 06 December.
