Sevilla and Valencia meet at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in a high stakes clash, and all eyes are on Oso. Both clubs, long considered sleeping giants, have drifted uncomfortably close to the drop in recent seasons.
According to Superdeporte, the 22-year-old, real name Joaquín Martínez Gauna, is enjoying his best spell since breaking through and is increasingly central to Matías Almeyda’s plans.
He debuted in LaLiga only a few months ago, gradually earning minutes before his first major reward. Last weekend he scored his first senior goal in the 5-2 defeat at Barcelona, a strike that reduced the margin and underlined his poise.
That finish capped a run that had already featured a decisive assist in the Seville derby and a readiness to operate across the left flank. His versatility and work rate have opened the door to regular rotation as Sevilla scrap for safety.
Born in Torrevieja and shaped by multiple academies before joining Sevilla’s reserves, he has moved from prospect to genuine first-team option. He already has appearances in league and cup.
This remains a turbulent campaign for Sevilla, who sit in the lower reaches and must gather points quickly. Even so, the bravery of emerging youngsters, Oso among them, has offered encouragement.
With that backdrop, the visit of Valencia feels like an early final. Nervión expects a response and the visitors must plan for a rising academy threat, with Oso intent on seizing chances to become a late-season revelation.
