Liverpool and Manchester City's rivalry defined an era of English football, and it more or less started on this day in 2018 - ironically in a European clash.

Pep Guardiola was en route to his first Premier League title, but Jürgen Klopp's Red revolution had kicked into gear by now with the January signing of Virgil van Dijk, as well as the arrival of Mohamed Salah the summer before.

It was Salah who got the first of the goals in a stunning 3-0 win that set the Reds on their way to a first final in 11 years.

With Klopp now gone, and Kevin De Bruyne announcing his City departure among other factors, it feels like the end of this particular era in both England and Europe.
