According to L'Équipe, Lille provide three players to the Ligue 1 matchday 28 team. They beat Lens 3-0 in Saturday’s derby, and Strasbourg, Rennes and Monaco are also well represented.
The round opened with a sublime goal from Ousmane Dembélé against Toulouse on Friday, a 3-0 win. It closed with Folarin Balogun’s gem in a 2-1 victory over OM.
Both forwards make the XI, the Paris striker even scoring a brace on a weekend when attacking places were scarce. Estéban Lepaul also features after two penalties in Rennes’ 4-3 win at Brest, a haul that put him joint-top of the scoring chart with Joaquin Panichelli, whose season is over.
LOSC’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo produced one goal and one assist, continuing his rise. Nabil Bentaleb controlled midfield and Aïssa Mandi steadied the defence as the Dogues swept aside Lens.
Strasbourg are represented by Samir El-Mourabet, who marked an already promising campaign with his first Ligue 1 goal, and by Guéla Doué, the right-back who supplied an assist. On the left, Quentin Merlin was rampant in the Finistère.
Two newcomers, 17 years apart, complete the XI. Monaco goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky, 36, repelled almost all Marseille efforts, while Angers defender Marius Louër, 19, was impeccable in the 0-0 draw with Lyon.
