PSG have been handed a serious blow before the Club World Cup as Ousmane Dembélé (28) pulled out of the France national team squad after sustaining a quadriceps injury. The French FA announced on Friday that Dembélé had undergone medical exams that showed a quadriceps strain. Le Parisien reports that the seriousness of the injury should mean that the Champions League Player of the Season is set to miss PSG’s three group stage games at the Club World Cup.

The outlet understands that such an injury generally means a 2-week absence, and that does not take into account further days of recovery to pick up the pace in collective team training. The timing and nature of the injury indicate that Dembélé won’t be able to feature for Les Parisiens against Atlético de Madrid (June 15), Botafogo (June 20), and Seattle Sounders (June 23). The outlet understands that PSG have no intention of signing a striker who would compensate for Dembélé’s injury.
