Overseas offer lures Corinthians Futsal defender away for 2026

Corinthians will not have the player Marlon for the 2026 season. Signed in September this year, the player ended his contract with the club at the end of December and will not remain in the squad next year. The information was released by the portal Meu Timão.

According to the investigation, the athlete received an offer from abroad considered beyond the standards practiced in Brazilian futsal, a factor that weighed in the decision to leave. The possibility of a transfer had already been raised throughout the week.

Marlon was signed after leaving Yeesco Futsal, a team that ended its activities due to the bankruptcy of its main sponsor. The agreement with Corinthians was short-term, valid only until the end of the 2025 season. Initially, the player was considering waiting until the end of the year to decide the next steps in his career and even considered a possible participation in the Kings League, a scenario that changed with the opportunity at the alvinegro club.

The farewell of the player comes amid a restructuring of the Corinthians futsal squad. In recent days, the club also confirmed the departures of winger Iván Monteros and pivots Axel Muñoz, Israel Neto, and Andrey. Additionally, pivot Deives announced his retirement and will not remain with the team in 2026. So far, the management has not officially announced any signings for the next season.

With a solid career in futsal, Marlon has played for prominent clubs in Brazil and abroad. Defending Carlos Barbosa, he was a Copa Libertadores champion in the 2017 and 2018 editions. In Europe, he played for traditional Spanish teams like Inter Movistar, Palma Futsal, and ElPozo Murcia, winning titles in the Spanish League and the UEFA Champions League.

For the Brazilian National Team, the player also boasts significant achievements, including the International Tournament of France, the Nations Cup, and the Copa América. In 2024, he was part of the squad that won the Futsal World Cup and was voted the second-best player of the competition.

At Corinthians, Marlon had a significant role during his time under coach Fernando Malafaia. In total, he played 17 matches, scored seven goals, and provided five assists.
