Pablo Longoria, who left Olympique de Marseille on 23 March after his remit was curtailed, could return swiftly to club work, with talks under way with River Plate in Argentina, according to L'Équipe.
The reshuffle among former Marseille figures continues. Roberto De Zerbi joined Tottenham on Tuesday, while Medhi Benatia remains at OM until the end of the season, and the trio that oversaw sporting matters since summer 2024 have either moved on or may do so soon.
De Zerbi has taken on a demanding task with Spurs, who are in poor shape in the Premier League.
Longoria is intrigued by the chance to discover Argentine football and to return to the sporting director role he held before becoming OM president.
Stefano Di Carlo, in charge at River Plate since November 2025, is overhauling the club internally. He is understood to have identified Longoria, valued for his knowledge of the European market, as an ideal fit to run sporting operations alongside Enzo Francescoli, who has been at the club since 2014.
