Pablo Longoria says Marseille are considering an attacking addition in January while prioritising cost-cutting, after L’Équipe reported the club are set to post a €37m loss for the 2024-2025 season.

Speaking at the Stade Vélodrome, the president said the club must improve its economic situation. He added the priority is to reduce the squad’s cost, though they would explore an extra attacker if the market presents the right opening.

Assessing the squad, Longoria noted he may look for a profile similar to Mason Greenwood, who has already played many minutes this season.

Under Roberto De Zerbi, Marseille have yet to settle on a number 10 operating behind the striker. The coach has tried Matt O’Riley, Arthur Vermeeren and Angel Gomes in that role at points this season.

A winger who can also operate as a number 10 could be of interest in the winter window.
