Painful defeat for Chivas against Juárez at home

Artikelbild:Painful defeat for Chivas against Juárez at home

It was not a good night for Guadalajara, who tried everything to recover from two specific plays that were reflected in the scoreboard, but fell short in their attempt, losing to the Bravos 1-2 on Saturday afternoon at AKRON Stadium in a match corresponding to Matchday 5 of the 2025 Apertura.

The Rojiblancos used their teamwork and the mobility of their players to try to break through the border defense, but lacked the necessary precision in front of the goal. A penalty kick and a counterattack were the only chances for the equine team, which ended up being the deciding factor. For his part, Santiago Sandoval made his debut as a goal scorer for the Rebaño in the top flight to bring the Guadalajara team closer and give the team a boost at the end of the match, but it was not enough.

Chivas will have to turn the page and focus on their visit to Tijuana next Friday, August 22, at 9 p.m. at Estadio Caliente.

The goals

- The visitors took the lead in the 40th minute from the penalty spot with a goal by Oscar Estupiñán.- Juárez scored the second in the 55th minute on an individual play by Ían Torres, who fired a shot past 'Tala' Rangel inside the area.- Santiago Sandoval pulled one back for the Rebaño in the 83rd minute, pushing in the rebound from Jurado after a shot by the Rojiblanco youth player.

The dangerous moments

- In the 6th minute, Alan Mozo broke away on the right after a tremendous ball behind the defense, shooting diagonally inside the area, which was blocked by the defense, but 'Piojo' Alvarado took the rebound and shot, with the defense closing in on the line.- Flash from 'Guti'! In the 21st minute, the Guadalajara captain unleashed a left-footed shot from distance, which was just wide of Jurado's far post.- 'Guti' threatened again in the 33rd minute, looking to surprise Jurado with a set piece from the right, sending a shot to the far post that the goalkeeper barely managed to tip away.- In the 53rd minute, Guadalajara combined to put 'Richie' Ledezma in front of goal, only for his right-footed shot to be saved by Jurado's quick reaction to deflect the ball.- 'Hormiga' appeared in the 64th minute with a header to the far post that was aimed at the corner, but his shot went over the bar.- 'Santi' almost scored his second goal! In the 86th minute, Sandoval was left unmarked to shoot at goal from a ball that crossed the area, but he was unable to make good contact to direct it towards the goal.- In the 92nd minute, 'Hormiga' managed to connect with Cade Cowell's cross inside the area, but his shot went straight to the goalkeeper.
