According to Nosso Palestra, Palmeiras have aligned the final details to extend Gustavo Gómez’s contract and are close to announcing the deal.
After the World Cup, the club worked behind the scenes to secure key players and renew contracts of first-team pillars. Talks over Gómez had already been set before the tournament.
The expectation is that the Paraguay captain will sign a new agreement through to the end of 2029, keeping him at the club deep into his career.
On the 17th, Leila Pereira commented on his future, saying football director Anderson Barros would speak with him. She said Palmeiras want what is best for all parties and that keeping Gómez for a long period would be ideal, adding the matter is calm.
Gómez has told people close to him and team-mates he wants to play for Palmeiras until close to the end of his career. At 33, he does not rule out a return to Paraguay to retire. He does not envisage leaving soon and aims to continue building his legacy at the club.
