Corinthians drew 0-0 with Palmeiras in the Brasileirão on Sunday in São Paulo, with the leaders checked but still top as the derby was shaped by two home dismissals.
The tie tilted when André was sent off in the 35th minute for violent conduct after a VAR review. Reduced to ten, Timão sat deep and looked for counters.
After the restart, the hosts went down to nine as Matheuzinho was also dismissed for violent conduct (71.). From there, Verdão camped in the final third.
Carlos Miguel saved from Yuri Alberto early on and later denied Gabriel Paulista, while Andreas Pereira drew a flying stop from Hugo Souza late on. Felipe Anderson teed up José Manuel Lopez for a close-range header that was gathered, and Flaco Lopez then fired wide in the closing stages.
Both reds followed VAR upgrades, and seven minutes of second half stoppage time could not separate the sides.
Verdão tallied 16 attempts, seven corners and 68.1% possession as they pinned the nine men back. Timão managed six attempts and relied on Hugo Souza's five saves and 38 clearances from a packed defence.
