Palmeiras are trying to sign midfielder Danilo from Botafogo, with the academy graduate currently the club’s sole transfer target. The pursuit continues despite several obstacles.

According to Nosso Palestra, Palmeiras may yet advance discussions with the player and Botafogo, but there is a major valuation gap, the offer sits 30% below Botafogo’s asking price.

Palmeiras had proposed including defender Naves to help bridge the difference. He has since been sold to Necaxa in Mexico, and Botafogo initially prefer a deal without players included.

While not ruling out talks with Palmeiras, Botafogo’s hierarchy would rather agree a move to Europe if Danilo is sold.

Palmeiras do not plan to give up on the deal. Coach Abel Ferreira believes Danilo’s arrival would complete the squad for the coming months, with no need for further signings in other positions. He also views keeping the starters as vital to success at the end of the year.

In private conversations with president Leila Pereira, the Portuguese manager has guaranteed he would repay the club with an important title this season if the transfer is finalised.
