Palmeiras' largely reserve side were beaten by Botafogo-SP, undone by Leandro Maciel's long-range strike four minutes into the second half, as Marcelo Lomba let the shot slip under his hands. Abel Ferreira's changes later could not salvage the result.

According to Globo.com, chances were scarce before the break. Luighi's early solo run brought a sharp stop from Victor Sousa, and Larson then failed to connect when released by a Bruno Fuchs diagonal.

Ferreira made no half-time changes, then sent on five regulars after falling behind. Marlon Freitas improved the build-up, and Bruno Fuchs fashioned a move that ended in a goal, ruled out.

Vitor Roque found the net but was offside. Allan spurned a one-on-one soon after coming on, then a possible penalty was reviewed and the referee decided no foul.

Giay defended stoutly but erred late in key moments. Jefté's crossing lacked precision, Emiliano Martínez broke up play without imposing himself, and Riquelme Fillipi's closest effort was a corner-kick that the keeper clawed away. Belé was quiet and withdrawn, while Flaco López, Ramón Sosa and Andreas Pereira struggled to influence the game.
