Palmeiras taunted Bahia head coach Rogério Ceni after a 2-1 win in Salvador on Sunday, sharing a clip that referenced his past criticism.

According to Globo.com, the club resurfaced Ceni’s October 2025 claim that Palmeiras relied on direct balls and paired it with footage of Jhon Arias opening the scoring at Arena Fonte Nova.

At the time, Ceni said the pitch looked poor and argued a bad surface suited Palmeiras, adding much of their play was from Weverton towards Flaco or Vitor Roque, while his team build from the back.

After this defeat his focus turned to the officials. Bahia protested a foul by Gustavo Gómez in the move that ended with a Ramos Mingo own goal to seal the visitors’ victory, and Ceni argued the first goal was Arias’s and the second was down to the refereeing, saying that was what Palmeiras did better on the day.

Palmeiras lead the Brasileirão on 25 points, five clear of second, and Abel Ferreira’s side now turn to the Libertadores, opening against Junior Barranquilla on Wednesday at 21:30.
